Teela's 4th Birthday

A few weeks ago I put together my daughter’s 4th birthday party.  This one was so exciting to plan as I absolutely loooovve making things pretty and pink! I got in touch with my creative crafty side and made tissue paper pom poms (thanks to Martha Stewart’s tutorials), pinwheels which reminded me of my childhood, I even made the cupcake wrappers myself! I cut these out of scrapbook card and laminated them so I can use them again! I made and designed the cupcake toppers and food labels, the invitation, the banner/bunting which unfortunately I didn’t get a photograph of!

Johnny's 2nd Birthday

Ok! This is my very first blog!! YAY exciting! I just wanted to say hi to whoever is reading this and I hope that my blog gives you some inspiration to achieve your dreams.

The first little thing I wanted to share with you are some photos of my son's 2nd birthday party that I recently threw.  We didn't have a big first birthday party for him so we wanted to make his 2nd birthday extra special.

The first two photos are of the table setting once I put it all together.  The party was a blue and red themed train party. I bought a large old wooden train toy from trademe, spray painted it white and that became my cupcake “stand”.

I painted some wooden square blocks white and stamped a picture of a train (that I got from the $2 shop) on it.  The wooden blocks were made by my Dad were left over from my sister’s wedding (which were used as candle stands).

The photo below is the cake that I did! I made the entire cake myself, I hired a number “2” tin from a cakeshop and made a 4 tier layered spongecake.  The layers were 3 different shades of blue and one red layer.  I iced the cake (with my husband’s help) and made train tracks over the number 2, I also iced the cake board, and put train tracks on the board. I modeled 2 trains with gumpaste and put these trains on the tracks.  I also made a few other little decorations on the cake.

Here is my cake stand - a wooden train that I found on trademe and spray painted white.  I was stoked to find this as it fitted the theme perfectly!

Here are some photos of my white chocolate and macadamia nut rocky road! Yummmmo! You can also see some mini iced donuts and my shortbread cookies! Delicious!

I was very surprised with myself that it all just came together and worked so well, especially given that I am in no way a professional in this area.  It took me  a long time to plan and research ideas, and did the whole thing on my own.

My guests were amazed that one person could actually do all of that. But I think anyone can accomplish something just like this or even better with a bit of planning.   You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars doing it, with the right preparation anyone can do this!

Oh yes, and check me out in the lastest issue of the Treasures Magazine! xox
